SUMMARY
Construction planning started August 1998, Building construction started in 1999, Original building opened in 2001 at 150,000 sq ft. 2006 building expansion doubled the size to 320,000 sq ft. 2013 building expansion added 3 additional production lines and expanded size an additional 530,000 sq ft. Total building size is 850,000 sq ft.
Del’s Construction was the Construction Manager for all of the above work. We worked with the Owner and Architects from concept to completion.
CHALLENGES FACED
Since the original building was completed in 2001, the expansion projects have faced the challenge of providing construction solutions that allow the existing facility to continue operating without interruptions. At each expansion, the south precast wall has been removed and relocated to new exterior south wall location. In most recent 2013 addition, we faced the challenge of existing grades on the southeast end of site being 40 feet below the required finish floor elevation. Through a combination of layering sand and clay backfill, along with the use of retaining walls, we were able to raise the existing grades to the required level.
