About this Project

SUMMARY

Multi-phased project. Phase one consisted of conversion of an existing Dryer Room to new Cheese Vat Room. Phase two required moving existing cheese tables to old Vat location, enclosing existing cheese table area and remodeling this area to accommodate new tables.

One by one, new tables were brought in and exchanged for existing tables, hooked up and commissioned before the next table was disconnected. In Phase three, the old tables were removed from the building. In all of the areas, roofs were raised 20 feet, new plumbing, floors, dairy brick and fiberglass finishes installed along with new piping and utilities. Del’s Construction provided Construction Management services and did all of the masonry construction as required. A tower crane was installed for the project and Del’s Construction did all of the rigging and helped set the vats and cheese tables along with hoisting out demolished items and bringing in new construction materials for all of the trades working on site.

CHALLENGES FACED

The site was very tight with access from only one side. A tower crane was installed to allow us to reach the far end of the construction area. Plant shut-downs were not an option. Construction sequencing had to provide for continuous plant operation. Each area being worked in was surrounded with enclosures to prevent contamination of on-going processing areas. All of the finishes had to be completed and equipment operational before moving to the next area.

Client Testimonials

He assisted us in the selection of the architects and contractors and once selected, represented our interests and advised me closely as the project unfolded….. He quickly became well versed in our desired outcomes and was crucial in bringing those to fruition within the scope of the project and our budget…. In a variety of cases, Henry’s advice and representation allowed us to keep costs down without the risk to the aesthetic design integrity or build quality.
